Remember: the worst man is he who accepts no apology, forgives no sin, and excuses no mistake.”

3.5 nature stars.

Más estilo Salvatore que Tolkien. Buen arte.

Set in a fantasy world, with humans, elves (blue - dark - sylvan), orcs, dwarves, and... creatures, lacks the apropiate background to undestand a couple of things, it feel like we are presented with the second tome rather than the first.

Sorry but no. I didn't like it.

I was curious about this, but it turned out to be much rarer than expected. Maybe there iare a special circle in inferno for bad parodies after all.

In a nutshell: She wanted nothing more than to cling to him while he had four years of hurt and loneliness, but she could not.

This is what happens when you take books on impulse. I liked the cover of the book -I must admit-; and there was some nostalgia for old magazines like Bianca; But the plot is incredibly trite. And had some rare language turns: He's always been his country and his family first. (?) It even sounds strange to me.

There are several phrases that cut the impulse, it lacks fluency to the story. And ... well, I did not feel connected to the characters. It's all tremendously predictable, the two are good, there are reasons and blahblah.

Not even the dog-slege could save this.

-The salvageable: various comments about climate change in Alaska, the lack of cold in the winters and disappearance of snow, which is representing a short-term change of life.

BLURB: An expedition of groundlings from the Empire of Kish have traveled through the Three Worlds to the Indigo Cloud court of the Raksura, shape-shifting creatures of flight that live in large family groups. The groundlings have found a sealed ancient city at the edge of the shallow seas, near the deeps of the impassable Ocean. They believe it to be the last home of their ancestors and ask for help getting inside. But the Raksura fear it was built by their own distant ancestors, the Forerunners, and the last sealed Forerunner city they encountered was a prison for an unstoppable evil.
Prior to the groundlings’ arrival, the Indigo Cloud court had been plagued by visions of a disaster that could destroy all the courts in the Reaches. Now, the court’s mentors believe the ancient city is connected to the foretold danger. A small group of warriors, including consort Moon, an orphan new to the colony and the Raksura’s idea of family, and sister queen Jade, agree to go with the groundling expedition to investigate. But the predatory Fell have found the city too, and in the race to keep the danger contained, the Raksura may be the ones who inadvertently release it.

My rating: 3,5 azuladas estrellas.

Entretiene.

Winter... Famine.

Intriguing , with elements of traditional fairy tale, the old woman in the woods, the girl, the sweets, the aisolation. The family.... And the tweaks that made a good story.
Bardugo should writte the Grisha book itself like this; instead, I never could pass the first pages.

I'm rounding to 5 stars, because this story is every time better . The art as outstanding as always. And the story is working to add more background to Maika, the past war, and besides... awesome shark-arcanic!.

Just as Moon is once again cast out by his adopted tribe, he discovers a shape-shifter like himself... someone who seems to know exactly what he is, who promises that Moon will be welcomed into his community. “Three realms: sea, earth, and sky. Everyone remembers the sea realms, but they’ve forgotten the sky realms. It’s been so many generations since the island peoples fought among themselves. They’re mostly gone now, with no one left to tell the stories.”
Moon wondered if he had been right about the sky-islands all along. “Is that where we’re from?”
His gaze distant, Stone said, “No. We’ve always come from the earth.”

He had never lived with anyone long enough to truly trust them, to tell them what he was. But living alone, even with the freedom to shift whenever he felt like it or needed to, wore on him. It seemed pointless and, worst of all, it was lonely.
------

People like him. It was wonderful and terrifying.
And seeing it let him articulate the thought that had been plaguing him since Stone had asked him to come to a shifter settlement: If you can’t fit in here, it’s not them; it’s you.

I was the expedition’s mapmaker, the men’s safety and sanity, but none of them could bring themselves to trust a half-savage. Except Clayton. Although perhaps trust is the wrong word—when a person ties a noose around your heart and holds the end of the rope in their palm, do they really need to trust you?
