BLURb: Young Theo Paxstone aspires to a better life. A mechanic at a steam mech repair shop, he slaves away under the sharp eye of the ruthless Master Grimes, along with dozens of other orphan boys. The biggest and meanest of them, Grant, has in it for Theo and his best friend, Ollie, the shop’s parts-spotter cockatoo.
When the largest dragon ever seen descends out of the night sky and sets the royal tournament aflame, Theo escapes to help. He saves a crippled steam knight, Sir Bentham, from the blaze, assisted by Bentham’s pugnacious squire, Riley.
Together, they decide to hunt the monstrous dragon down — before it can kill again.
But nothing is as it seems, and Theo soon finds himself caught up in an adventure that will turn his entire world upside down...

My rating: 3.5

Theo’s prized possession was a collection of picture books about the famed Sir Drake, the greatest steam knight in all of Adyron, and Theo’s hero. The knights were the guardians of the kingdom, and kept it safe from monsters. Theo kept the books tucked behind a loose board beside his bed box, and the corners of every page of every one were well worn. If Grant ever found them, Theo would never see the wondrous, magical books again.
     He couldn’t bear that thought.

Bentham frowned and regarded Theo, as if the question perplexed him, then back at the beast. “It’s one of the originals, lad,” he muttered. “Created by The Ancients. That beast there, it’s been alive since… why, before The Apocalypse. Thousands of years … Imagine what it has seen. Worse, what it has done…”

A shortened review in english:

A sort of post-apocaliptic steampunk fantasy story with knights, dragons, and steam-mecha .
image
Imagine mutant evil things as bad consequences of a magical war and forgotten tech extracted from buried buildings.

And a boy following his dreams ... and encountering reality

ABOUT THIS ARC:

-There are about half a dozen editing problems in this e-arc copy, missing or excess-wrong letters, so I could realize.

-There is a change of name of the mare: from Pumpkin to Daisy at the end.

  1. Hola :)

Saludos :)
