SINOPSIS: Addie Snyder's first novel is becoming an overnight sensation. Unprepared for being thrusted in the limelight, she is desperate to shelter her brother, Owen, who has Down syndrome. After her father abandoned them when Owen was just a baby, she is his sole guardian after her mother passed away. She must protect him from the harsh world, but how can she do that with public events coming up? An unlikely ally in her cold and emotionless publicist, Jameson Ford. As a former Navy Seal, Jameson has his own demons, but there is something about Addie that defrosts his icy wall. Together, they navigate the twists and turns as her book becomes a world-wide phenomenon.

My rating: 1.5 stars

Good idea, bad development.

I don't know what to say, other than to agree with a good part of the reviews of this book. A pity, because I wanted to like the book, especially for the addition of a brother with Down Syndrome, which is not something very common that appears. I think no one could even come close to the fantastic tv series "Life Goes On".

BLURB:  Marcus Caster-Rupp has a secret. While the world knows him as Aeneas, the star of the biggest show on TV, Gods of the Gates, he's known to fanfiction readers as Book!AeneasWouldNever, an anonymous and popular poster. But if anyone ever found out about his online persona, he’d be fired. Immediately. April Whittier has secrets of her own. A hardcore Lavinia fan, she’s hidden her fanfiction and cosplay hobby from her “real life” for years—but not anymore. When she decides to post her latest Lavinia creation on Twitter, her photo goes viral. Trolls and supporters alike are commenting on her plus-size take, but when Marcus, one half of her OTP, sees her pic and asks her out on a date to spite her critics, she realizes life is really stranger than fanfiction.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

{Y ahora en Castellano:}

BLURB:  Ulysses, a widower for several years, loses his job as a mover at age 59 and loses his sense of being. Mediterranea, 62 and never married, loses her mother and officially becomes the oldest member of her family. Fate brings them together and helps them to much more than just heal

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Graphic novel. Literatura francesa.

Art - 3.5 / 5
Story - 1 / 5

There are many things in the story that rubs me the wrong way, so... it's not of my liking. And since this is just my personal taste, well, that.

Blossoms in Autumn, -which in French is called "The programmed obsolescence of our sentiments"- is about two aging people who know each other and get together. Ullyses with 59 years old is lay off from a moving company, the loneliness and emptiness of his days is well told. While Mediterranea, with 62 years, still works in a cheese factory, she is going through her own crisis of loneliness after the death of her mother whom she cared for.

Newsflash - Life does not end at 50, or at 60. And I must say (coming from a family that mostly lives after the 90s and a hundred years) not even after that. And yes, they still have sex in some cases. I mean, my maternal grandfather was a hardworking , mean, and lecherous man until the day he died at 96 years old.

But it is Ulysses wich bother me. He repeats again and again that 'he hate reading'. STRIKE ONE. I don't know if that hints at problems like dyslexia? but srly? not good.

by

Nancy Herkness

320 pages
Expected publication: April 2nd 2019 by Montlake Romance

Edition Language: English
Series: Second Glances

BLURB: Lights. Camera. Romance.
Jessica Quillen, veterinarian for the charitable K-9 Angelz program, didn’t mean to stumble into the middle of a New York movie shoot. She just wanted to rescue the stray dog she’d been chasing. Instead, she’s playing catch-up with her ex-fiancé—and the screen’s hottest action hero, Hugh Baker. The only man she ever loved. The dream that disappeared. The heartthrob who’s now hoping for a “take two.”
Seeing Jessica triggers emotions Hugh has tried to forget. Abandoned by his mother to foster care, he still struggles to feel worthy of love and to open his heart to a woman. His biggest mistake was not trusting Jessica. It was his fault she left. All he wants now is to make up for lost time. But he has to prove that she can trust him.

My rating: 2.8 stars de 5

This is a second chance story. Hugh and Jessica broke their engagement 8 years ago; a rising actor and a commited veterinarian that were separated for their life choices. But now when Hugh, a successful action movie star, sees her in N.Y. still helping animals start to think that perhaps this time will be different. Or maybe not.

I like this kind of stories where couples give themselves a second chance. Especially because there were no betrayals here. Only those misunderstandings that are the epitome of all these romance stories. However, many of the things that are said are very valid and understandable. That is, because he does what he does and because she lets it 'flow'.

BLURB: Heir apparent to her father’s company, Lizzy Banks needs a man. The perfect man. But when the rich “fundbabies” she usually rubs shoulders with prove impossible to hire, she takes a chance on a raw beast of a man salvaged from the wreckage of a bar brawl.
James Rowan earns a modest income as a YouTube daredevil, but he can’t refuse Lizzy’s million dollar deal. As she polishes his rough edges, creating a sophisticated gentleman fit for the highest circles of society, not only does she bring out the perfect man—it’s like she’s making the man of her dreams. How can she resist?

My rating: 1.5 stars

Elizabeth Banks lives to please her father, so she does not want to disappoint him when she decides to look for a model for the new line of formal menswear. But instead of getting a millionaire, Elizabeth gets James Rowan who is dedicated to performing risky physical challenges on YouTube in exchange for money.

The story starts well, and I liked it at first, but then she continues playing up with her zero self-esteem and becomes an unbearable character.

LOVE AND DECEPTION HAVE A LOT IN COMMON.
Meet the Goodnights, a respectable family who run a respectable art gallery-and have for generations. Matilda, the youngest daughter, has inherited the secret locked down in the basement of the Goodnight Gallery, the secret she's willing to do almost anything to keep, even break into a house in the dead of night to steal back her past.
THE RISKS ARE INTOXICATING.
Meet the Dempseys, or at least meet Davy, a reformed con man who's just been ripped off for a cool three million by his financial manager, who then gallantly turned it over to Clea Lewis, the most beautiful sociopath Davy ever slept with. Davy wants the money back, but more than that he'll do anything to keep Clea from winning, including break into her house in the dead of night to steal back his future.
AND IF YOU'RE REALLY GOOD AT THEM, THEY BOTH PAY OFF.
One collision in a closet later, Tilda and Davy reluctantly join forces to combat Clea, suspicious art collectors, a disgruntled heir, and an exasperated hitman, all the while coping with a mutant dachshund, a juke box stuck in the sixties, questionable sex, and the growing realization that they can't turn their backs on the people they were meant to be...or the people they were born to love.

“Everybody’s crooked,” Davy said. “The trick is to find out how they’re bent. Then you make sure the consequences are so great they stay straight anyway.”

This is like one of those old movies of screwball comedy... made me feel nostalgic; I really miss them. Lot of crooked faulty charming characters, and it made me chuckle sometimes too :)

Shayma and Murphy’s chemistry may be undeniable, but as the stakes get higher, can Murphy open himself up to love? Or will he be forced to choose between Shayma and finding his sister?

My rating: 1.5 don't care stars

The plot: Murphy Coen, SEAL was looking for the holidays instead he is looking for his missing sister. His friends want to help, and so Shayma his friend's ex.
There are some single scene in a party and bedroom scenes and oh he can't and she I am in luuuv.

This i my second chance with this author, and I don't want to give her the third one. I had to push myself to finish this. Is so full of tropes that maybe could be better try it as a parody; not even a single sentence is original. Guys, I found more originality in fanfiction even reading over and over the same theme. Okay I'm not talking here in looking for Nobel's material, but come on!

My rating: 2.8 running stars

I do not read the previous book, but the plot is understood without any problem.

Kaylee has her dream life in California, great job, nice home, good clothes, and maybe a dream boyfriend , but then her dream come crushing down with awful reality when she sees something horrible in a party and feel that is more safe to flee frightened for her life.

I really wanted to like this book, that is, a hot cop that works with dogs, and a girl who runs away who ends up working in a kennel? Pasapacá. But the story differs somewhat from that. Unlike other readers, I would have complained a great deal more -internally- in case I had to leave behind all that had been achieved with so much effort in a matter that was not my fault. (And in my case, I would have even regretted having helped those strangers, in fact. Although the latter really were lip service.) So, I like Grace. Yes, she is not a wall flower, and acts when it count.

In a nutshell: She wanted nothing more than to cling to him while he had four years of hurt and loneliness, but she could not.

This is what happens when you take books on impulse. I liked the cover of the book -I must admit-; and there was some nostalgia for old magazines like Bianca; But the plot is incredibly trite. And had some rare language turns: He's always been his country and his family first. (?) It even sounds strange to me.

There are several phrases that cut the impulse, it lacks fluency to the story. And ... well, I did not feel connected to the characters. It's all tremendously predictable, the two are good, there are reasons and blahblah.

Not even the dog-slege could save this.

-The salvageable: various comments about climate change in Alaska, the lack of cold in the winters and disappearance of snow, which is representing a short-term change of life.
