A Korean Odyssey

(Título: 화유기 / Hwayugi)

2017

    Personajes principales

  • Lee Seung Gi como Son Oh Gong.
  • Cha Seung-won como Woo Hwi Chul.
  • Oh Yeon Seo como Jin Sun Mi

The power, the passion, the danger... her courage would change the world. Xena: Warrior Princess.
Collect issues 1-5

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Mejores Lecturas a Medio Año

FLAME IN THE DARK de Faith Hunter.

Sinopsis: A diva who lives for the spotlight, a sailor deeply in the closet, a love that will change them both. Ripley Malone is returning to Perth in triumph. A principal ballet dancer in a production that has critics raving. But behind the makeup and the glitter and the costumes, Ripley is beginning to tire, tire of the competition, the drive, the endless parade of meaningless lovers.
For Pierce Lovell, joining the Navy was a way out of rural Victoria, but becoming a submariner comes with its own set of challenges. The close living quarters and long months away are awkward enough without adding any extra tension around his sexuality. He gets by on anonymous one-night-stands every time they come to shore and keeps his heart well-shielded. But one night with Ripley opens the tantalising possibility of more.
Through a mistake Ripley is injured. Pierce knows their affair can’t possibly end in anything but heartache, but he can’t stay away. As Ripley heals and reassesses his life, he is determined not to make the same mistakes again. That means letting someone see the vulnerable side of him. But vulnerability for Pierce could cost him everything

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

BLURB: A grieving mother wakes in a brutal but fantastic landscape, where the currents of time pull her into the future, lurching forward days, years, and millennia. Her name is Shannon Kind, and her life in our world has vanished without warning. Perhaps she can find peace in her new home. Perhaps she can shape Zojaqan into a better world. But first, she must survive.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Art - 3.5*
Plot - 2*

Clarke

Tomo autoconclusivo

BLURB: When an Aryan baby is born to a Muslim woman living in Copenhagen, her husband’s family shuns her. But DNA tests prove Sorraya’s fidelity. And she is just the first in what soon becomes a rash of similar cases across Europe, threatening widespread social change even as they ignite passions in immigrant communities and incite familiar racial hatreds. What mysterious conspiracy connects a retrovirus, a young slacker biogeneticist, a former punkette, a dogged reporter, and pharmaceutical giant Keoxis? Clarke delivers a contemplative slice of near-future science fiction paced like a thriller but full of probing questions about our prejudices.

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

art - 2,5
plot - 1

This book piss me off. Even with the best of intentions, if that, I don't think it was treated as intended or more probably it was bad elaborated since the beginning. I am a gut-feeling ranking-based reviewer, so this is what I feel. Even when the book wanted to deliver a message of unity and blah, it totally failed of its objective.

The plot? It start with a black muslim woman giving birth a blond blue-eyed baby. (Yeah, seems like a soap opera once I watch at tv). Infidelity is not the case, because DNA test said soAnd more and more blond blue-eyed babies are birthed to different race families, like a epidemy. Infidelities cries are shouted and violence explode among inmigrants.
If this is really a virus, a disease, who started it, why, and how can be contained it?There is no clear answer in the novel.

We follow two women with their babies, and a troupe of journalists, and some pharmaceuticals, and a runaway biologist.

Sadly it was not even Village of the Damned.

This could be a good thriller. It was not. Motives and characters fumbled by the book with unclear motives, and often confusing more the reader.

Star Trek made it better with the half-blue guys. Hell, Gulliver was more subtle with the egg thing.
