Series: BeWere My Heart #1
BLURB: Werebear shifter Annette Garsea is a caseworker for the Interspecies Placement Agency. When a selectively mute and freakishly strong teen werewolf is put in her custody, Annette has to uncover the young girl's secrets if she's to have any hopes of helping her. And not even the growling of a scruffy private investigator can distract her from her mission... Bear shifter David Auberon appreciates Annette's work with at-risk teen shifters, but he's not sure if her latest charge is so much a vulnerable teen as a predator who should be locked up. All that changes when he, Annette, and her motley band of juveniles find themselves dodging multiple murder attempts and uncovering a trafficking cartel that doesn't just threaten the kids, but risks discovery of the shifters by the wider world of homo sapiens.

My rating: 3.7 don't-mess-with-my-cubs stars

But malevolent elements in the paranormal community still seek to destroy Jane, and the younger Son of Darkness stalks her, even into the safety of the hills. My entire life was death and destruction. And each droplet of my future was a world of even more horrors if I didn’t fix what was happening here and now. Or if I allowed the arcenciels to go back in time and destroy the vamps at conception. Or if I allowed the war in the heavens to start. But I didn’t know how to stop any of that.

what a ride, more gory than ever.

The vampires take the war unto american lands, against the Queen.

For some, there is no more harsh judge than family. Imagine a family of power hungry and ruthless dragons where you are the fail, the shame, the runt and worst ... NICE. Julius Heartstriker is one of the youngest of Bethesda, he is pacifist and accepted that as the runt he better keep out of the way of big predators hiding in his room, being a slacker, playing games and studying online. Well, mommy dearest take the 'swim or die' approach and kick him out of home with no clothes or money, and sealed from his true form to the worst place for a dragon: Detroit Free Zone, governed by Algonquin the spirit of the Lakes (whom hates dragons).

BLURB:Nell Ingram has always known she was different. Since she was a child, she’s been able to feel and channel ancient powers from deep within the earth. When she met Jane Yellowrock, her entire life changed, and she was recruited into PsyLED—the Homeland Security division that polices paranormals. But now her newly formed unit is about to take on its toughest case yet.

A powerful senator barely survives an assassination attempt that leaves many others dead—and the house he was visiting burns to the ground. Invisible to security cameras, the assassin literally disappears, and Nell’s team is called in. As they track a killer they know is more—or less—than human, they unravel a web of dark intrigue and malevolent motives that tests them to their limits and beyond.

first thought: Yo quiero un Occam

btw, short-short story before this book could be read here: Black Friday shopping with Nell and Occam

Nell Ingram has powers upon the land that she doesn't know very well, and now is the probie agent in PsyLED aka the 'witch-squad' who police paranormals (vampires, witches, shapeshifters and who knows what). Her unit are called because a Senator and other VIPs , like Ming of Glass , suffered an attack; other Agencies are involved too, uncertain of the target. With the precedence in doubt, the agents are pressured for answers and results , meanwhile Nell is struggling to work with the team , with family issues and maybe men-issues. But above all trying to knowing better herself.

This is one of my favorites Urban Fantasy series. well interelated with Jane Yellowrock's worldbuilding.

I'm afraid to start parroting Choko's review, because I agree with her about the kind of heroine that Nell is.

But maybe not for to start gushing about Occam, and how I so love to see him kick Rick ass. (and took photos and send them to Jane and George XD)

Published 2012 by Ace

BLURB: What could be scarier than the first day of school? How about a crash course in the paranormal from Charlaine Harris and Toni L. P. Kelner, editors of Home Improvement: Undead Edition? Your worst school nightmares—taking that math test you never studied for, finding yourself naked in school assembly, not knowing which door to enter—will pale in comparison to these thirteen original stories that take academic anxiety to whole new realms.

In #1 New York Times bestselling author Charlaine Harris’s story, "Playing Possum," Sookie Stackhouse brings enough birthday cupcakes for her nephew's entire class but finds she's one short when the angry ex-boyfriend of the school secretary shows up.

When her guardian, Kate Daniels, sends her undercover to a school for exceptional children, teenaged Julie learns an all-new definition of "exceptional," in New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews's "Magic Tests." For those who like fangs with their forensics, New York Times bestselling author Nancy Holder offers "VSI," in which FBI agent Claire is tested as never before in a school for Vampire Scene Investigation. And in New York Times bestselling author Thomas Sniegoski's "The Bad Hour," Remy Chandler and his dog Marlowe find evil unleashed in an obedience school.

You'll need more than an apple to stave off the creatures in these and nine other stories. Remember your first lesson: resistance is fruitless!

There are few, very few, books that let me at 'squeeee level'. Well, cough, this is one of them.

In Jane Yellowrock's New Orleans, the European Vamps have finally arrived. (well, funny factor here - Anita Blake old times nostalgia aside- they really arrived). As you can expect, bad-bad things occur almost simultaneously. There is a ton of action-packed scenes.

I'm really impresed when authors can show they thought their books way ahead; and the argumental arcs converged to leave you impressed.

1) Cherokee rituals.

2) Magiks, and angels, and scheming vampires, onorios, primos, emperors, and witches, and dragons, and Beast, and storms and rain.

3) And Alex and Eli:
I looked out into the living room. “I was thinking you could find and replace the fireplaces with gas ones.”
“No. Wood,” Alex said. “That way, when the zombie apocalypse comes we can have wood fire for heating and cooking.”
“When the apocalypse comes,” Eli corrected, “we’ll grab gobags and head for the hills. Some little holler Janie tells us about.”
-----------------

Also

3) Jane hit RickyBo.

4) Jane defends her love.

"The woman in front of him let out a loud laugh. “If you’re tired of women climbing all over you, why you wearing that little Speedo? Man as pretty as you don’t need to show off what he’s got.”
“What, you think I’m asking for it? Isn’t that what some people say if a woman wears anything more revealing than a burka?”
“I like you,” she announced. “What’s your name?”
“Cullen.

Bueno, después de eso ¿a que más podria aspirar una obra? XD

Published November 1st 2016 by Roc
ISBN:0451473329 (ISBN13: 9780451473325)

Series: Soulwood
BLURB:

Before Nell Ingram met skinwalker Jane Yellowrock, she had no one to rely on, finding strength only in in her arcane connection to the dark woods around her. But now she has friends in the newly-formed PsyLED team to keep her grounded—even if being part of the agency responsible for policing paranormals presents dangers of its own...
After training at the PsyLED academy, Nell returns home to her woods to find the land feeling sick and restless. And that sickness is spreading. With the help of her team, under the leadership of agent Rick LaFleur, Nell tries to determine the cause. But nothing can prepare them for the evil that awaits: an entity that feeds on death itself. And it wants more..
My rating: mmm... 3,5 ?

...though the church and I had parted ways, some things stay with a woman, like accent, hospitality, and a steady hand on the trigger.

Laziness had gotten the best of me.

That could be the motto of Samheim LaCroix.

Sam is not a very much likable character. Slacker, drop-out college, skater, fast-food fry cook. A stupid game (avoiding his job) ends in a changing life experience. The mortal kind.
