BLURB: After years of innocent correspondence with her husband's cousin, Folie Hamilton had him pictured in her mind as a heroic soldier. But when he returns to London after her husband's death, Folie meets a man on the edge of madness-who both frightens and fascinates her.

My rating: 3.8

She could hardly remember the unhappy girl she must have been, to develop such a passion for a man who was no more than ink upon paper.

nope. nope. nope.

She's the Man Meet Go Figure /<-where br="" i="" latter="" liked="" more.="" much="" the="">
fwi - there is drunkards and mention of sex (not explicit)

Reseña: Where Would You Be Now? (The Coast Road 0.5)

Where Would You Be Now?Where Would You Be Now? (The Coast Road 0.5)

by

Carrie Vaughn

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

... ¿Esto pasará o solamente va a empeorar?

Short dystopian piece about life in America after a post-disaster, day-a-day reality with problems with famine and worry about armed gangs, like many other tons of dystopia show. Still... I'd like to know more, is too short.

A clinic still working with doctors and nurses trying to help and survive, worried about fed their members and colaborators. Still uncertain about the world or if this it.

This keep remind me of another story, and yes is similar to Amaryllis ---Amaryllis and Other Stories

This is a prequel to Bannerless. Could be read online here.

White Sand Vol. 2

by

Brandon Sanderson

 160 pages
Published February 21st 2018 by Dynamite
ASIN: B0759PD6ZW
Edition Language: English
BLURB: Following the loss of most of his colleagues in a violent ambush, Kenton has become Lord Mastrell of the few remaining Sand Masters, magicians who can manipulate sand to do their bidding. With the ruling council poised against him, the hot-headed Kenton must become a diplomat to have any hope of preventing the eradication of his people forever. However, there’s another complication: assassins are coming for him from all directions, and Kenton’s only true ally is Khriss, a visitor from the other side of the planet who has an agenda of her own to pursue.
White Sand Volume 2 continues the New York Times bestselling series of graphic novels, bringing a crucial chapter of Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere to life exclusively in a visual format.

My rating: 3.5

I got problems once again with my e-arc pdf copy , the images were not clear and a number of missing letters do a very frustrasting reading of an otherwise engaging story, more complex this time.

Kenton, now as Lord Mastrell of the remaining sand masters require the votes of the Lords to keep The Diem . But everywhere he turns for help or alliances found old grudges against the sand masters, religious prejudice and asassins attacks.

Maybe is time that some things change. The old ways of the sand masters produced a lot of enemies. Khriss is willing to help with diplomacy ... for some information.

BLURB: The concluding part of the highly-acclaimed science fiction trilogy that began with Nnedi Okorafor's Hugo- and Nebula Award-winning BINTI.
Binti has returned to her home planet, believing that the violence of the Meduse has been left behind. Unfortunately, although her people are peaceful on the whole, the same cannot be said for the Khoush, who fan the flames of their
ancient rivalry with the Meduse.
Far from her village when the conflicts start, Binti hurries home, but anger and resentment has already claimed the lives of many close to her.
Once again it is up to Binti, and her intriguing new friend Mwinyi, to intervene--though the elders of her people do not entirely trust her motives--and try to prevent a war that could wipe out her people, once and for all.

Don't miss this essential concluding volume in the Binti trilogy.

My rating: 3.7

Previously: While Binti was at her father's people , the desert people, barely grasping the new knowledge delivered to her , she feel something very bad happening at the Rook , the family home.

So we deal with a overwhelmed girl, between bouts of flashbacks from the original travel to the Uni and the deaths, anxious for getting home with her family, and assaulted for all a new kind of ...language? ...mental perception? A bad trip among desert storms combating PSTD and her worst nightmares.

For some, there is no more harsh judge than family. Imagine a family of power hungry and ruthless dragons where you are the fail, the shame, the runt and worst ... NICE. Julius Heartstriker is one of the youngest of Bethesda, he is pacifist and accepted that as the runt he better keep out of the way of big predators hiding in his room, being a slacker, playing games and studying online. Well, mommy dearest take the 'swim or die' approach and kick him out of home with no clothes or money, and sealed from his true form to the worst place for a dragon: Detroit Free Zone, governed by Algonquin the spirit of the Lakes (whom hates dragons).
