BLURB: Nova Huang knows more about magic than your average teen witch. She works at her grandmothers' bookshop, where she helps them loan out spell books and investigate any supernatural occurrences in their New England town.
One fateful night, she follows reports of a white wolf into the woods, and she comes across the unexpected: her childhood crush, Tam Lang, battling a horse demon in the woods. As a werewolf, Tam has been wandering from place to place for years, unable to call any town home. Pursued by dark forces eager to claim the magic of wolves and out of options, Tam turns to Nova for help.
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Nova Huang lives and works with her grandmothers in their bookstore; all are witches. When she goes to check a disturbance in the forest , meets her old childhood friend, Tam, a werewolf with a couple of secrets.
This is a webtoon that was/will be published as graphic novel. I choose this for the cute cover; unfortunately, it failed to impress me with the plot or how the characters are presented. It may be my thing, but when it comes to graphic novels or comics, the drawing or art should impress me or tell me here there is something interesting, and in this case I found it frankly childish, like something that a preteen or a couple of friends would be doing in class to hang out (I had friends who drew in an impressive way at school just drawing a couple of lines, and when I say "even I would do something better"... hmm, well forget it).
The plot is pretty simple, and the characters despite all the inclusive diversity factors (asian , lesbian, non binary, hearing impairment) fell flat.
And again as in other novels with witches, I could not help comparing it a little with Charmed and their family ghosts :)
A pity, it could have worked much better.
-----------------------
